The environment
From May's you can make beautiful hiking and cycling tours through the area. The Alpe-Adria Trail (an approx. 750 km long hike from the foot of the Grossglockner to Muggia/Triest in Italy) runs past the chalet. In the summer there are activities such as (mountain) biking, canyoning, rafting, surfing, supping, hiking, horse riding and golfing. In the winter the Mölltaler Glacier offers perfect snow up to 3150m, 20 minutes from Obervellach. Nearby you will find the Ankogelbahn at Mallnitz and the train takes you in 15 minutes to Bad Gastein where 200 km of large ski area awaits you.
Summer
Carinthia is known for its mild climate. In the summer there are many activities to do, such as hiking, walking, mountain biking, cycling, golfing, canyoning, rafting, fly fishing, horse riding, climbing and paragliding. To name just a few... With the Kärnter Card you can in many cases use free access to e.g. the Groppenstein and Raggaschlucht, the Mölltaller Glacier, the Mallnitz - Ankogelbahn. Or the wonderful outdoor pool of Obervellach. Fly fishing and golfing can be done nearby, ask us about the possibilities. And if you want to surf or swim, Carinthia has about 1200 lakes, such as the Millstättersee, Presseger or Ossiacher See, where the temperature in the summer is often about 28 degrees Celsius. You can also enjoy a wonderfully active holiday in Carinthia with children. Enjoy a nice swim or learn about the animals and herbs with a mountain guide. If you want more adventure, choose paragliding or canyoning. Carinthia is the place for an adventure holiday!
Winter
In winter the area turns into a winter sports paradise
for every winter sports enthusiast. The ski areas are perfect for both beginners and advanced skiers. The Ankogelbahn in Mallnitz, about a 20-minute drive from May's Apartments. The Ankogel is known for its guaranteed snow and the fact that it is a quiet and compact area. Or the Mölltaler Glacier (3150m), also a 20-minute drive away. The Glacier is open for skiing no less than 9 months a year. The 7 km long descent makes the heart of even the most fanatic skier beat faster. And Bad Gastein, by train through the Tauerberg. Here you will find more than 200 km of slopes. But the cross-country ski trails through the Mölltal are also beautiful. The cross-country ski trails in and around Mallnitz, with a length of 25 km, are one of the most beautiful trails in Carinthia. Glide through crunchy snow and enjoy the view of the impressive mountains around you. There is also a 4km long illuminated toboggan run. Winding up to then take a seat on the sled. Once you get down you can still feel the adrenaline going through you!
There is plenty to do in Carinthia in both summer and winter and there is always the lovely warming sun, which shines more often in Carinthia on average than in other parts of Austria.
